LEVEL ONE & TWO
Whilst your Foundation Training year seems a long way in the distance, you can make contact now with UCA to ensure you begin receiving relevant information when you need it. Simply email UCA and we will keep you up to date and be ready to assist when it comes to the application process.
Having relevant work experience or varied work experience is advantageous when applying for your Foundation Training Placement. Ask your local pharmacy if they might be able to offer some work experience during your studies – during academic holidays or even a Saturday job.

LEVEL THREE
During your 3rd year you should apply for Foundation Training placements in Northern Ireland.
UCA compiles and publishes a list of placements offered by NI pharmacies in its Foundation Training Placement Guide. The Guide will also offer details on the proposed application, interview and offer process for community pharmacy in Northern Ireland. Placements within the hospital sector are managed via www.hscrecruit.com and are usually advertised each Spring. The UCA Foundation Training Placement Guide is distributed to all pharmacy undergraduates across the UK, via the School of Pharmacy or directly by request.
Your Foundation Training Placement is paid employment and is governed by the Pharmaceutical Society of NI with the training year facilitated by NICPLD. You must registewith the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland at least three months before your placement is due to commence. For details of when registration opens please check with the Pharmaceutical Society of NI for the latest guidance.
