Info for Undergraduates

LEVEL ONE & TWO

Whilst your Pre-Reg training year seems a long way in the distance, you can make contact now with UCA to ensure you begin receiving relevant information when you need it. Simply email support@uca.org.uk and we will keep you up to date and be ready to assist when it comes to the application process.

Having relevant work experience or varied work experience is advantageous when applying for your Pre-reg Placement.  Ask your local pharmacy if they might be able to offer some work experience during your studies – during academic holidays or even a Saturday job.

Keep an eye on the UCA Facebook page for opportunities too.

LEVEL THREE

During your 3rd year you should apply for Pre-Registration placements in Northern Ireland.

UCA compiles and publishes a list of placements offered by NI pharmacies in its Pre-Reg Placement Pack. The Pre-Reg Pack will also offer details on the proposed application, interview and offer process for community pharmacy in Northern Ireland. Placements within the hospital sector are managed via www.hscrecruit.com and are usually advertised each Spring. The UCA Pre-Reg Placement Pack is distributed to all pharmacy undergraduates across the UK, via the School of Pharmacy or directly by request.

Your Pre-Reg Placement is paid employment and is governed by the Pharmaceutical Society of NI.  You must register with the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland at least three months before your placement is due to commence.  Registration usually opens in the January of your 4th year.
